Cronin: "AAC grossly disrespected"

Postby Lebanese4Life » Tue Mar 18, 2014 8:34 am

I'll be rooting hard for our conference mates in the NCAA tourney. Seriously.. F*** the NCAA and the committee. Show them and the nation that they were totally wrong and tear up the NIT. Go Mustangs.

Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin also spoke out Monday in defense of the Bearcats' conference when asked about SMU's absence from the NCAA tournament.

Cronin, talking to Andy Katz in an interview on ESPNU, said he understood "it's a hard job but SMU not being in the tournament is ridiculous."

"The American conference was grossly disrespected by the committee," Cronin said. "It's not personal. I'm not mad. It's just a fact.

"I mean, Louisville's a 4 seed?" Cronin added before laughing. "Are you kidding me? Is that a joke? Did anybody watch them play? They're the defending national champs."

Cronin reiterated he didn't understand the NCAA tournament committee's reasoning.

"The basic message that was sent to our league was that you're not as good as some of the other leagues," Cronin said.

He is right. Glad he is expressing his opinion. It of course will do no good until the conference getts representation on that selection committee.

I will definitely be rooting for our conference mates. I think Cinncinnati will be my team this year, so depressing, but it is what it is.

Best scenario is that we make some waves and get some attention for absolutely steam-rolling teams in the NIT.

Doesn't shock me that Cronin spoke his mind. Guy will tell you exactly what he thinks.

Cronin was also pretty unhappy that UC was sent to Spokane.

Wish our commissioner had some balls like Cronin - instead of just laying over. Its ok to be pissed if people are messing with you - we don't have to be Lemmings and willingly jump off the cliff.

Pulling hard for Cincy and UConn. I hope they roll. Best way to prove that the selection committee was wrong is to show it on the court. Beat every Big12 / Big 10 team you play . . . by a lot. Get to the final four. And have SMU win the NIT.

how do we get someone on that board? Amazing how you have to worry about [deleted] like that. It should be fair. let the professionals decide, not some bum athletic directors that don't have a clue about half these teams

And he was instrumental in getting So. Miss into the field under much the same circumstances as it has been with NC State.
