I remember Aresco addressing this at the time of the split. Conference staff lives in providence, has families, etc. At that time they did not think it was worth the disruption of the move which would have resulted in either new staff or people having to move.

At least the metroplex is in a media center with its B12 members clustered about its headquarters; UT,TCU, Baylor, OSU, OU, TTU, etc. Regarding C-USA, who gives a sh_t. Providence isn't a center for much except as a gateway to Boston. When one flies, you don't hear them saying, " I have to connect through Providence, or it's my gateway city to Europe". The only AAC member nearby is UCONN. This conference and its executive staff needs to get its act together as shown by the great treatment SMU, Louisville, and the conference received at the hands of the NCAA Mens Basketball Commitee. It can start by moving to a more central location for the members, and not where it's easy for a staff that hasn't performed.

I would move the headquarters to Florida. Maybe Miami or Orlando, FL. That's where I would also start doing the tournament...better to fly down to Florida for the AAC tourney than go to Memphis...
