Saving Seats-LSU

I noticed at the UCI game, there were a number of people "saving seats" 45 minutes before tipoff. Some of these people, were brazen enough to save large numbers of seats. This was no big deal for the the UCI game, but, if LSU fans are allowed to do this (as we are hearing), it could cause a big problem. SMU officials might want to prepare a preemtive strike on this. With booze involved, it could get a little rowdy in the stands. 8)

Be sure to have your gun permit with you.

yep. SMU will want to have more security than normal in the stands; No joke. Also, there should be a contingency plan for people without seats to watch the game.

As long as SMU doesn't sell more tickets than they have seats, why would this be a problem? Late arrivals will just have to choose from what's left.

Honestly, if you are a late arrival for an 8pm game that is a first come first serve game, it is your fault.

It's a problem if 5 LSU fans are trying to hold 30 good seats so they can show up late. I don't mind someone saving a couple of seats for friends, but to try and do that for a whole row or two shouldn't be allowed. Obviously, it is GA and I assume, "these seats are saved" argument holds no water and I could sit in the seat as long as no one else was in it.

I could see a few heated exchanges going on Monday. Hell, I was kinda ticked off Wednesday when three SMU fans were holding an entire corner row 30 minutes before tip off, but we just continued on up and sat in an empty row. If an LSU fan does the same thing and it is more crowded, I may be tempted to sit anyway.

There is a contingency plan for people without seats. ESPN.

I bet this WILL be a bit of a problem. LSU fans probably aren't doing any fine dining or attending upper crust social functions pre game. Most of them will most likely show up with sacks of Taco Bell swill about an hour early.

Here is my creative solution:

Lets the students who have tickets in the student sections sit in GA seats until about five minutes before game time. As Pony Fans come in they can "replace" the students and head to the student section. This would require two things: Students getting there early and "bribery by hop."

I'm going to be 45-60 minutes late. I need someone to save my seat.

All joking aside, I do fear fights in the stands Monday night.

I think the nature of Tiger fans is vastly a myth. Football games there will be an issue here or there but in baseball and basketball you aren't gonna find that. I wouldn't be worried about fighting but I have heard of a ton of people going. I wouldn't be shocked to see 400+ LSU fans there Monday night.

This seems like a reasonable policy: 1 person can save one seat, no more.
