Does SMU keep any $ from NIT

ticket sales, concessions, etc?

I would think 3 extra, sold-out home games could help boost the AD budget - but knowing the NCAA, I'm sure we do not keep that money from ticket sales. Anyone know?

Thanks,

I have no idea but if I were to guess, smu keeps concessions, splits ticket revanue with the other team and all teams in each round split tv money.

From what I understand, all money in excess of costs to operate facility are returned to NIT. NIT then distributes money between teams (conferences) based on units which are earned for games played. More wins translates to more money. Having home court advantage merely provides greater opportunity for more wins.

I could also argue that operating the facility at cost for another day has its own benefits of scale, but that's pretty nitty gritty.

If the 500 LSU fans drink 15 beers each like they normally do, than we will get a bit of a windfall there. Side note - I am at the last day of the Nelson every year and last year on Sunday at 9:00 am, 8 LSU guys (unexplainably in full LSU gear) were walking around with two beers each. Very impressive.

Is it too late to get a moonshine stand for LSU and then if we are lucky Arkansas? Could make a ton off of that.

I doubt we make any more than pocket change off NIT with $10 tickets. Now the SMU Parking Garage gets a nice payday for parking

it's an easy explanation. that is all they own. i know some LSU alumni. their entire wardrobes are purple and yellow. even if it doesn't have LSU on there somewhere.
