Their football team/program is a hot pile of garbage. They made NCAA tourney for first time since 1998, and they bring in no real TV market.

Adding UMass does nothing for the national profile of our conference. It would help bball a little but a negative in football. But, I'd love to add them as a bball only member.

Doubt they'd see American as much of a step up from A10 for bball only. More travel costs, less NCAA bids

No way. They seriously underestimated how much it would cost them to compete in FBS and it's possible they will go back to FCS after struggling to draw fans and pay for new scholarships.

Actually, not sure how good UMass will be in basketball next year. About 2/3 of their NCAA tournament team are seniors, and out of eligibility

Really?? Boston is the 7th largest TV market in the U.S. They might not be any help in football, but basketball?????

Except for the fact UMass doesn't cover the Boston market. If anything, more like the Springfield, Ma market since the Amherst campus is about 20 miles from Springfield.

No, we don't want to go down the football members/basketball members road again. I'm not thrilled about Navy coming in as a partial member either.
