SMU a destination spot?Pro athletes, ex Presidents, probably actors are attending these games, SMU hoops has to be considered one of the more cool places now to play college hoops, not to mention folks in the stands drinking beers making it seem like a pro sports event! I know that Texas is Texas, however, is there a chance that SMU becomes the number one place in the state for top high school players to play college basketball? I live in Indiana where basketball is a passage and must admit I want to go to this gym and see a game!
Re: SMU a destination spot?I think we may already be there. We have the best arena in the state. Judging by the recruits that have come through numerous times...it looks like we have turned the corner
Re: SMU a destination spot?Seriously, has there ever been a school that has made such a dramatic turnaround? SMU hoops since Koncak and Davis played has pretty much been non existent, SMU has a chance to be a top 10 program on a regular bases soon, it's pretty amazing when you think about it!
Re: SMU a destination spot?Of all the schools in Texas we have the nicest set up. We've built the best facilities. We hired the best coaching staff. We have a beautiful campus in the most vibrant Texas city. We have a great University that gives it's alumni a great chance at being successful in any walk of life they choose. We are located in Texas' most concentrated area for high school basketball talent. We can be as good in basketball as we want to be and we've shown we want to be national champions. The only thing we lack is a tradition of high level basketball that the kids of this generation can appreciate, but we will change that in short order. This is how powerhouses get built. Pony Up!
Re: SMU a destination spot?
Thanks for posting your observations from afar....we hope you can make a game at Moody next year!
Re: SMU a destination spot? One of my best friends just moved from Northwest Indiana to San Antonio, I already talked to him we're attending a game next year. His boss is a huge Baylor fan but not sure I really want to go to Waco to see a game, SMU looks like a much better place!
Re: SMU a destination spot? The longest week of your life would be 2 hours spent in Waco.

Re: SMU a destination spot? That's what I thought, I do like college baseball and I heard they have a cool field. Anyways, my friend loves San Antonio, going to visit next winter to get the heck out of here, Moody will be on the list of things to do for sure! Also, honest opinion what is the cooler city Austin or Dallas? My friend loves the music scene Austin has so I think we're going to do that as well.
Re: SMU a destination spot?I love Dallas but Austin is way cooler. Dallas is a great place to live but not the greatest place to visit. We have great restaurants and nightlife but outside of that it's just huge, spread out city with bad traffic. LA without the beach and mountains.
SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
2014-15 & 2016-17 AAC Men's Basketball Champs
Re: SMU a destination spot?
Traffic in Austin is every bit as bad as it is in Dallas. Peruna is my mascot!
Re: SMU a destination spot?
I've lived in both. ATX is quite a city. Only thing it's lacking is professional sports. Other than that, it is incredible
Re: SMU a destination spot?
Ha, I've said this many times before as well!
Re: SMU a destination spot?
Or Lubbock Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: SMU a destination spot?
This. I've lived in both cities fairly recently. IMHO, Austin is a better city to visit, but Dallas is a better city to live in "[College] referees couldn't manage a White Castle." -Mark Cuban
Re: SMU a destination spot?Have lived in Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston.
For food: Dallas > Austin > Houston > San Antonio. For traffic: San Antonio > Austin > Dallas > Houston For view and experience: Austin > San Antonio > Dallas > Houston For my line of work: Dallas > Austin = Houston > San Antonio P.S. Don't take my opinions personally!
