Last shot by Cal

Watching the video again, did anyone think that the ref was tempted to call a bump on Nic as the guy from Cali was coming up court? I don't think he would have, but just wondering.

Definitely crossed my mind. And that his shot was gonna go in as Moody's roof deflates to the floor.

Thought it would be called and then thought the shot would go in. Was a little dazed when it ended.

I've watched it multiple times and there was enough of a bump to call something, but still hard to do in that situation. I think it would have been on the floor though. Was it a bonus situation? Foul call might not have been the end of the world.

Looking at it again it is kind of difficult to see who actually initiated the bump. The Cal guy and Moore were both pretty guilty. Not sure that the ref could have made a quick call and probably wasn't going to let the game be decided unless it was a pretty hard foul.

I remember hearing the announcers say (when I re-watched on ESPN3) that the Mustangs did
not have a foul to give (which would have been nice) so - any foul call would have resulted
in either 1 and 1 and 2 free throws. With all the bumps that Nic had during the game by Cal
players, it was justice that no foul was called at the end. The shot certainly looked good when
it came off his hand and Boggs said, after the game, that he thought the shot was in.

I think it was a coaching thing. If he gets across the midcourt line with more than x seconds left, bump him to either 1) send him to the line to shoot for a tie and SMU gets last shot, or 2) get away with it and impede his progress a bit. Thing is, part 2 of that plan didn't work and he still almost hit the winner

I thought Larry would call timeout after the basket to set the defense. Nic wasn't a good matchup. But he saw it otherwise and won

You only send him to the line for 2 shots if we are up by 3 or more.

The bump was initiated as much by Cobb as it was Nic. Heady play by Cobb no doubt as it allowed him some separation and the possibility of a foul being called.

Not saying I would have told him to do that - I wouldn't have. But I think it would have been 1-and-1 if memory serves correctly and a bump better than allowing a clean 3. LB and Nic Moore each know more about hoops than I do
