As a side question that I'm sure has been discussed elsewhere, what happens to louisville's tourney "credits" when they move next year?

I sure wish Louisville had won. I was hoping for Louisville and Uconn in the NCAA final game.
Uconn winning the NCAA Championship.
SMU winning the NIT.
That would be an IN YOUR FACE message to the selection committee.
I still hope Uconn wins it all and SMU wins the NIT. This would bring so much credibility to the AAC.

They actually go with them. The valuation of the exit fee has any transferable funds priced into it.

That is not what I have been told.
