Weak headline. But I think Manuel is correct.

Who cares if it's bulletin board? And that isn't. You think anyone over there will post that? If anything it just reminds them of their own weakness, not exactly motivational or inspiring.

Yes, it is. Their coach will basically say that Manuel said that they are not any that good offensively. Incentive to prove him wrong.

The Clemson fans are idiots. (yes, I realize that isn't exactly breaking news)

He might be correct but you usually don't want to say something to challenge another team right before a tournament game.

Some responses from the Clemson board.
SouthernTiger09
So he's basically saying, Clemson is mentally [deleted] on offense.

We are going to beat them so bad, their program won't need the NCAA to give them another death penalty; we'll take care of it ourselves.

Just read an interview Omar did with LB on Scout. Larry says the exact same thing, he says they are challenged, like we are sometimes, to score, and that they stay in games because they defend.

Well if this statement allows them to all of a sudden become an offensive juggernaut then their coach should have said it long ago.

That's a reeeeeeeal stretch to call it bulletin board material. Shedding a tear for any Tiger fans reacting like the ones cited above.

It is not bulletin board material to the extent that the author had to reverse the order of Manuel's words for the headline to pop a little more. Challenged offensively is now something that can't be said in an interview?

Manuel was just repeating LB's assessment, as said earlier, that he applied to both schools, as a general overview.
That is not to say that it would not be bb material but neither team should need additional motivation at this point.

Doesn't make a difference besides Coach Brown said that
we are challenged and added SMU in the statement as well and not implying only they are. If their coach is Patterson like he will use this as bulletin board material whether we think it is or not. Does matter if we think it is but how the opposing team uses the statement.

Guys like Patterson will spin anything as Bulletin Board material. They will find ways to fire their team up with something someone said no matter what. I don't see this being a rallying cry for Clemson, both teams will be absolutely juiced anyway given that they are playing in a semi final game in MSG...

So a rather mild statement by Manuel is somehow gonna whip up the winter like dormant offense into a blossoming powerhouse of spring like productivity.
I seriously doubt it.
