Just read the most recent tweet from SMU athletics that there will be a watch party for the NIT Finals Thursday night at Moody. But...to get in you must by a ticket to Friday night's College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships.
As a donor to the Mustang Club and a season ticket holder, I can't say how hacked off I am right now. So if you have no interest in Friday night's festivities then you're not welcome at the watch party on Thursday. That's bull s**t.
This seems wrong on so many fronts and a cheap excuse to sell tickets to this exhibition going on Friday.
Well, obviously they don't need me there on Thursday night and perhaps they don't need me to buy season tickets...to donate to the Mustang Club or the University itself for that matter.
Tell me if I'm wrong here but I feel strongly that the event should be open to all SMU fans to come in and watch the basketball team's biggest game in many, many years. Sad.

I thought the slam dunk competition was on Thursday as well. Is it not?

Actually the dunk contest is Thursday right after the game ends.

What would they do, throw everyone out of Moody? Not really feasible.

Yes it is. A NCAA deal not associated with SMU nor the NIT.

I think it's a smart move. We want Moody to be full for the dunk contest.

ha. A bunch of us students bought a bunch of red seats for 20 bucks like a month ago. See you all there in the fancy seats. They are selling student tix for really cheap now though

They are talking about Moody now and how loud it is.

Sounds like a great time! Watch the finals of the NIT and then an NCAA slamdunk and three point competition? That's great entertainment right there

If that were the case I would understand your anger.

I can do nothing about Dallas but I'm more than happy to foot the bill for a Birmingham, AL watch party. I've got a great spot in mind... the lounge at the apartments I live at. Grills right outside and the adult beverages are the cheapest in town (AKA BYOB). Two flat screen TVs, etc... anyone in the area is welcome to let me know and I'll host it.

If there's interest, I'll provide the food and the location.... just bring your beverages of choice.

Honestly, we should probably be thanking the NCAA for letting us show the game. I am sure we had to ask.

Hope they have the dance cam cranked up!
