The AAC has the following teams still playing, giving them an opportunity to do something that has almost certainly never happened before: win both major tournaments for both men and women.
Men's Final 4:
- UConn: Underdog, but have shown they are capable of beating anyone right now
Men's NIT Championship:
- SMU: #1 overall seed in the NIT, favored in championship game
Women's Final 4:
- UConn: #1 overall seed, favored to win NC
Women's NIT semi-finals:
- Rutgers/USF: Playing each other in the semi-finals, guaranteeing an AAC team in the final

Great marketing opportunity for the AAC. I hope they wallpaper the media with this nonstop for the next few weeks/months.

Important championship for Larry Brown. The NYC papers said he has never won the NIT. Put together the Championships of the NBA, NCAA and NIT would complete his resume'.

Pulling for USF to beat Rutgers.
Would be amazing to have them all win it...plus be in the conference next year.

I believe he never has had a team in the NIT before.

Agreed, that's like saying Stephen Hawking needs an Associate's Degree to complete his resume.

If only UCLA would have mixed an NIT Championship in when they were winning 10 NCAA titles in 12 years, they would have had a complete resume for that period.

I beg to differ here. I think a NIT championship would be another important feather in Larry's cap. Given he is in year 2 of an incredible turnaround, out of retirement, back in College ball after 20+ years, at 73, I could go on...it would be quite an accomplishment.
Sure he has more accomplishments than most HOFers but that in itself does not dampen the accomplishment of a NIT ship. We are looking ahead at a chance to compete for a NCAA NatChampionship while at the beginning of the season everyone here would have been happy with a NIT bid.
Larry winning the NIT is huge.

Sure it is big. I think the feeling is that he certainly does not need the NIT to prove his coaching ability. But for someone with his drive not to want to win the NIT to add to his other championships would be hard to believe.

Whatever makes the kids play their guts out tonight. Personally, I'd love to see LB leave MSG with a championship trophy and then smile and wave at the Knicks owner's box.
