Myles Turner needs to have a chat with Jordan Mickey

I would like Myles to ask Jordan Mickey about not choosing SMU. I imagine Jordan will get a good nights sleep in Baton Rouge tonight because the only thing he has to worry about tomorrow is class thanks to the ponies.

Jordan Mickey is better off at LSU. He is getting more minutes than he would have at SMU and he has a relative at LSU. I think even Coach Brown said after the LSU game that while he wanted him at SMU that LSU was the best decision for him.

Yeah, I think things are probably better for Jordan at LSU. As fans we always want our team to win, so it can be tough to remember that winning is only a small part of what recruits are looking for in a school.

Yeah, I understand. I just want to get to the point SMU is the first choice like UNC, Duke, Kentucky, and Louisville. I don't want any Texas native recruit to want to go anywhere but SMU. Arrogant and greedy, but I want SMU to be the basketball jewel of this part of the country.

Sounds good to me.

Honestly, I am not that excited about the idea of having Turner on the team. While one and dones can and do work out, I think that his needs for immediate minutes would be really disruptive to Kennedy, Cunningham, B Moore, Moreira, and the new transfer.

With better outside shooters, SMU can win with the bigs we already have.

I think I'm in this camp as well. The negatives of one-and-done + disrupting an already crowded front court outweigh the positive of him being a fancier version of Cannen and Yanick. Mudiay is a totally different story: a) he fills at least 3 gaping voids on this team (ballhandler, penetrator, big perimeter defender), and b) I just think he's a better player.

I won't be crushed if Turner doesn't come on board. We can't even get our existing 6'11" guy playing time.

Seriously? You guys want to turn away one of the top 5 players in the country? That is the most ludicrous things I have ever heard. Yes chemistry is huge, but you can't have a shortage of talented players, and I, for one, would never pass up the opportunity to not get a top flight player.

Lee Trevino was a Top Flite player.

My position has always been: would love to get him, but if we don't I'm not going to cry about it. I'm very happy with how the roster is shaping up for next year especially if B Moore can gain 20 pounds of muscle and Cannen lays off the brownies . . . just kidding . . . I joke, I joke.

Turner to SMU would increase our brand recognition greatly overnight and put us as a top 10 team preseason. But as LB said to Keith, "We will win with our without you"

Isn't this why we have a WDNWHA committee? It seems like a number of these points would be better presented in that forum.

We meet daily on Mr. Turner. Most likely we will have our final determination mid to late April.

I wouldn't turn him away, but I wouldn't be crushed. For SMU to be better next year, we need better outside threats.
