We have the future but we lost to a less talented team. It hurts

Yeah, that's my issue. I just hate losing to a lesser team and beating ourselves. We had a championship RIGHT THERE and gave it away. Win the NCAA tourney next year, and I'll get over it.

We want to win every game, but the NIT is a meaningless tournament to win. The additional games and practices are the only benefits. Onwards and upwards to the tournament that actually matters. Pony up!

Yes, it hurts and I'm having trouble dealing with it.

I disagree. Winning this tournament would have been big. Winning is always better.
I am more disappointed in the fact that we just didn't play very well. We had more talent, and Little Ricky is nowhere near LB as a coach. We had the pieces in place and still lost.
This sucks, but man, what a great ride this year.

SMU played well-they played with intensity. SMU just didn't finish. Both team played hard and played well. Its disappointing because we failed to execute down the stretch

Let's see.....
SMU has not won consecutive NCAA tourney games in some 50 years.
SMU has never won an NIT game.
SMU has never won a BB national championship at any level.
Having followed this team all season, so typical to fall behind early only to see the Ponies wear out its opponent, make a run late, and win (kinda) going away. This game fit that description perfectly. We were the better team (LB said so in the post-game), this is a perfect ending to a Cinderella season, we get our biggest lead with 5 minutes left and then what....we blow it with stupid turnovers.
Yes, it was a great season, but that ending will pi$$ me off for the rest of my life. Not as bad as being the only undefeated FB team denied a NC in 1983, but ticked off none the less.
Doubtful we return to the NIT under LB (I say this in a good way), this was our one bite at the Big Apple and we failed. It's how we failed that bothers me.

Thought we had it up 7 with 5 to go. Stuff happens. Guess we just needed to be knocked down a peg in the climb to a national championship. Always better to win, but it can be an experience on which to draw in the future. The gut pain will subside with the first lobster sighting of the 2014-2015 season.

We had better bigs and they had better guards. How were they a less talented team. With the difference I thought it was about even but we had a little more depth. Also, Minnesota's defense had a little something to do with us not playing well as the commentators noted. Both teams played pretty good defense.

I do not know much about their team but I even question the depth. I saw Minn substitute at least 4 if not 5 at one point. They have to have some decent depth to do that.

Manuel was clearly rattled during their run to tie it, I don't know why he wasn't removed.
Also this was probably discussed but I was at the game so haven't read through the threads yet, did the Minny player step out of bounds before he made the pass for the 3 with like 40 seconds left? Even the gopher fans around me were like 'we got away with one'.

Not sure on the OB but it was not discussed and there was an official right there.
