We not beat NC State during either one of their championship years (74 & 83).

We did play eventual NC Arkansas in 93-94 but they beat us, 96-70.

That may have been the only other time we even played an eventual NC.....

of course we went to wire with eventual champion Georgetown with Patrick Ewing in what 1984 and lost like 39-36

I was AT that one! That was the mountain top of my experience with men's bball while a student (and we get creamed -- tells you something about my "battered fan syndrome" . . . must forgive me, I'm learning).

FYI - 37-36.

Lost to San Francisco in 1956 FF 68 - 86. And Lost to runner up Kansas in 57.

Was that the year GT won or UNC. We beat UNC earlier that same year.

GT won it. In 84. Didn't remember, but after getting my yearbook out, it says we had a 24-16 lead over the hoyas at half. I just remember the how frustrating it was to watch the four corners offense. Glad they put in a shot clock. I also remember LDavis not boxing out Ewing on the missed free throw.
