DALLAS (SMU) --- SMU Head Coach Larry Brown announced Jordan Tolbert will join the Mustangs for the 2014-15 season. Tolbert is transferring from Texas Tech. He will join McDonald's All-American Emmanuel Mudiay as newcomers on the Hilltop next season.

In three seasons at Texas Tech, Tolbert averaged 10.7 points and 5.7 rebounds. As a junior at Texas Tech, he was second for the Red Raiders in scoring (10.7) and rebounding (5.. He averaged 9.8 points and 5.4 rebounds as a sophomore after leading TTU in both categories as a freshman with 11.5 points and 5.7 rebounds. Tolbert was an Academic All-Big 12 honoree in 2012-13 and named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2011-12. The Fort Worth native spent his prep career at All Saints Episcopal High School.

Twelve Mustangs return next season from a team that went 27-10 and reached the NIT championship game. SMU reached as high as No. 18 in the national polls while accumulating the second-most wins in program history. The Mustangs finished tied for third in the American Athletic Conference (12-6) and totaled four wins over ranked teams. The squad went 18-1 at home, including 12-1 in the renovated Moody Coliseum, while setting a new SMU single-season attendance record that included nine sellouts.

No all it means is that Tolbert is a part of the team. SMU cam now move forward with its due diligence to submit the hardship waiver documentation to the NCAA so it can review and rule on it. I wouldn't expect an answer for several months.

Welcome Jordan. We look forward to your playing for SMU. We hope that the hardship
ruling will benefit you. You made a great choice and will be a mutually good decision.

I haven't seen much of his game, but like the added depth.

Is there any kind of timetable on this eligibility ruling? Any new news?

You're probably looking at mid-to-late October for a ruling based on the track record of these things.

NCAA is the worst org. What's the kid supposed to do? I guess he has to prepare as if he's playing this coming season. HATE the NCAA. Effing morons.

This is one time where I have no problem with the NCAA on this. You have to understand they get a ton of these hardship requests in multiple sports. And let's be real here that people abuse this hardship waiver thing to the point where (this has been posted) the NCAA is going to overhaul this hardship policy beginning in 2015-16.

So just hang in there for the next couple of months.
