Southern Methodist Mustangs: An already good team (and one that probably deserved to get in the NCAA tournament over NC State, but oh well) gets almost everyone back and adds the No. 2 point guard in the 2014 class (Emmanuel Mudiay) to the mix, coached by Larry Brown. This should be interesting.

that's awesome.

Let it be noted:

StandUp » Fri Apr 25, 2014 2:00 pm

"Duke will be #1, no questions asked. Duke will have a good mix of both experience, talented Freshman, and a coach that knows how to get the best out of his players. There will always be 4 or 5 teams in the mix for #1. Kentucky just won't be one of them."

I can't believe ESPN still has Tyus Jones ranked ahead of Eman. Jones is a good player but I bet there isn't a coach in basketball who would take him over Eman.

Agreed- Mudiay is leaps and bounds ahead of Jones. I bet if you asked Duke fans they'd take Emmanuel too. You can't objectively watch the HS all-star games and not think Mudiay is the best PG (and second best player) in the nation.

While I'm a huge SMU homer obviously, I think Okafor is the best overall player in the class. He's so dominant, will be fun to watch next year

UConn #11 is surprising given what they are losing. Obviously ranked there in this assessment because of being reining champs.

Losing Napier and Daniels, but look at what is back. A backcourt of boatright and 5 star NC State Transfer Rodney Purvis. 5 star freshman wing Daniel Hamilton, top 50 National recruit Kentan Facey at PF and emerging Star Amidah Brimah at Center.

Terrance Samuels at guard off the bench who gave great minutes off the bench in the tournament, JUCO all american Sam Cassell Jr and very close to landing a 5th year transfer from USC Byron Wesley who avergaed 17 ppg and 5 rpg last year.
