Hoops newcomers
Posted: Sat Oct 20, 2001 9:33 pmOK, we all know Simpson is a stud, the Oklahoma guy (Castro) is a horse, Miller can play and from what we've seen in the first few practices, Justin Isham may be the best of the class. But there's a blond kid from Austin (Ryan Something) who's a terrific long-range shooter, and there's a JUCO big man most folks have forgotten named Billy Pharis.
What I'm looking forward to seeing is Peter McNulty. He was a solid floor general at Highland Park, and went to CCCC to rehab a knee he blew out. He never scored a lot in high school -- he makes SMU ex-es Troy Valentino and Chad Allen look quick -- but he's a smart, instinctive player who makes very good decisions, with and without the ball. (Let's hope he makes good decisions off the court, too.) McNulty could be a major star or a major bust.
