If this was truly to "support his family" he could have made this decision months ago and not left us in such a bind a few months before the season tips off. It's sounding more and more like the NCAA had him nailed taking improper benefits from somewhere and he wasnt going to be able to play, so he's going this route instead.
I can't blame a guy for wanting to take care of his family, but he really gave us a raw deal, especially after we gave JMM a scholarship

No, he did not give us a raw deal. The publicity alone of him committing gave SMU some much need credibility among high school basketball players around the country that we badly needed. Now we are getting high caliber players giving us serious looks.

Uh, they were giving us looks before Emmanuel. Frazier was a 5-star prospect and committed before Eman.
Tell me who brings the ball up against the press when Nic has three fouls, and then tell me EM didn't give us a raw deal.

I am not in disagreement with this but we had not gotten a top 5 player to commit to SMU since Larry Johnson. No matter how this loss of EMan hurts he did raise the profile of the pro even more than KF did imo. Now depending on how everyone develops it could get ugly when Nic is not in the game so I do see your frustration.

Adam Zagoria â€@AdamZagoria 13m
I'm told SMU fully expected Mudiay to make it through the Clearinghouse & this whole move was based on financials and not academics

What about his amateur status? Would Mudiay have been eligible to play in November? I think not based on what we're hearing.

guys, this has NOTHING to do with hardship/financials/taking care of momma.
if that was the case, it wouldn't have happened NOW. that decision would have been made long ago...
E-Man enrolled in classes, was expecting to be at SMU - this is an NCAA eligibility issue, plain and simple. If they are investigating improper benefits/amateur status, this is all about Under Armour, agents, endorsements, money changing hands, etc.

exactly - they can press release all they want - but this is high level AAU sleaze ball basketball - and this is about someone screwing up. This level of basketball comes with lots of people around the athlete throwing stuff at you. Eventually you will make a mistake if you are not really well advised.

No one know the facts. So I guess it is all innuendo at this point anyway.
