Sounds like JMM could definitely be put on academic scholarship or "retire" due to injury, get his SMU degree, and free up a spot for another guy to come in this year, if anyone is still available. Also, we are so lucky to have Larry Brown...what a classy ambassador for SMU even in the wake of some really tough news for the program.

During Brown’s meeting with the Mudiay brothers, Jean-Michael told the coach that he wasn’t sure he wanted to come back and play basketball his senior season at SMU. Jean-Michael has had two knee injuries and played sparingly as a Mustang.

Brown said he got Jean-Michael to promise that he will come back this year and finish his Sports Management degree. One of his goals is to someday help represent Emmanuel in negotiating contracts.

A somewhat of a win win scenario would be a retirement to a medical injury scholarship. That way it would free up a scholarship to get a backup pg and JMM can still get his degree.

JMM is taking the high road. Good for him. I think it serves both sides well is he graduates with a degree in a year.
