really impressive performance, even moreso when you consider he did it coming off the bench. Yannick got more minutes than their starting center, and any of angola's other subs. Korea is a very short team, so its not a suprise that Angola got alot of points inside their next opponent, Lithuania, is much taller and more physical inside, so it will be interesting to see what happens there.

Former Mustang Mouhamed Faye started for Senegal in their loss to Greece, but had just 2 points and 3 rebounds.

Awesome. Thanks for sharing.

I initially thought it was a bad idea for Moriera to be doing this, but how can you beat this experience? Good for Yanick.

Was wondering this as well. I'd heard he wasn't in great academic shape last year

Depending on how far Angola gets after the group stage, it could be more than 3 weeks. I would place the over/under at about 18 days.

Korea isnt tall, their biggest player is 6'9"-ish, and some of their guards are under 6 foot, so size wise they are smaller than some college teams. They also arent particularly athletic, most of the top-100 teams in the rpi would have some players that were better pure athletes than most of the Korean players. What they do have is alot of age and experience, they all play in a pro league in Korea, and have developed some solid basketball skills, and they play well together. They are team of jump shooters, they play a half court game, and rely on their shooters for offense. When the shooters are on, they can be competitive with other Asian and international teams. When their shooters are off they arent much better than an average college team. They may not get past the group stage in this tournament, Angola was their most realistic chance to get a win.

Yanick strugglig today, 3 turnovers, 2 fouls and 2 misssed shots in just 2 minutes of play so far in the first half. He's playing against a much stronger front court today, Lithuania has a couple of NBA players on their front line.

Yanick gets a dunk on a fast break before halftime. 2 points, 2 rebounds 3 turnovers and 2 fouls in 5 minutes of play in the first half. Lithuania leads 38-35.

In an earlier game, Korea was crushed by Australia, 89-55. Slovenia, led by Goran and Zoran Dragic, beat Mexico 89-68, and looks like the best team in Group D. Angola will need at least one more win in group play to advance.

Yanick gets no playing time in the second half, as Lithuania slowly pulled away, he finished with 2 points and 2 boards. It was tough going inside against Lithuania’s 7 footers, for comparison sake, Angola’s starting center did even less than Yannick, with 2 points and 1 board, and he didn’t score until the last 3 minutes of the game. Jonas Valanciunas (Raptors) Had 11 points and 13 rebounds, and Donatas Motiejunas (Rockets) lead Lithuania with 12 points and 5 boards. Angola will play Mexico on Tuesday.
