It's happening now to promote his coaching clinic, talking about Mudiay going to China:

- Offered a lot of money to go to China
- Offered a good shoe contract as well
- Rough upbringing without a dad and many brothers meant he had an urgency to help mom and make money now
- Going across the seas to play basketball earlier is not for everyone, cites examples of players who have gone to Europe and are never able to go to the NBA and be successful
- Compared Emmanuel Mudiay to highschool versions of Jason Kidd and Derrick Rose.
- While not having Mudiay hurts, emphasis should be on good recruiting (not the best players, but good ones) and coaching them up means they can compete with anyone.
- Pluses for this upcoming season are a strong conference and out-of-conference schedule as well.

I did not expect it to be. SMU's stock is clearly on the upswing, but we aren't quite to the point where we can demand a h-a-h with a traditional (esp with HCLB's position on playing teams within the family).
