I spoke with someone very much in the know about SMU basketball at the football game and he said Sterling Brown will be playing Point this year....worked alot on his handle in the offseason....6'7 SB at the point sounds like fun.

They need someone to play when Nic is out.

Sounds like we have no better options. Do we really think he can handle this after one off season of work? Hopefully so

Now I doubt he will be a starter. I thought he was solid to start for his defense but I would imagine now this opens a slot for a shooter.

I am sure a lot of guys worked on their handle and could be potential options if Nic is out, that does not make them back up point guards. There was a report about Ben working on his handle and being an option to bring it up earlier this offseason as well.

Ben Moore will be the starting PG. Get your facts straight

As we know working on get a better handle and having a point guard type of handle are not necessarily the same thing. We will see how that works out. I hope it does if that is the case but we will see when the time comes when Nic is off the floor and we are playing against an elite point guard or a good pressing team. Best wishes to him if that is the case.

No prob w/Brown or Moore clearing the ball, its getting us in our offense that has proved difficult w/Nic out

I thought Ben Moore was in training to become our point forward? Bottom line is that when Nic goes out, we need several guys on the floor who can handle

We will see how it works out but SB is the name who will be playing some at PG. I'm sure he's played PG in his younger years guys so this isn't some Frankenstein experiment.

he played the 4 in high school and AAU, but he also had incredible court sense as a frosh. Smart player

I bet he did...but then again so did lots of kids..my son did also because of his size but played PG growing up and watching SB last year with his court awareness leads me to believe he has PG skills from younger than HS days. Hope it works out.

SB not only showed great court awareness but also showed a willingness to be LB's soldier/role player. he may not have the handles to be a great pg but i'm guessing he'd do exactly what LB told him to do which is a great start
