when is the last time half the "experts" predicted we would win our conference in a major sport? I would say maybe 1984?

Eastern Washington and UCSB are picked to win their conferences by some writers and we play them. That could very well help our RPI if those teams have good years.

I know UCONN's very good, but why do I get the feeling that a piece of Doug Gottlieb's soul would die if he ever picked SMU to succeed?

He definitely doesn't care for us. I remember last March he was one of the few saying we didn't deserve to make the tournament.

Gottlieb is a big time troll.

A long way from the CUSA days when it was Memphis' to lose. A dead split between SMU and the defending champions for the conference, and no mention of Cincy or Memphis.

Not a huge thing, but great to constantly be in the news and getting fans/recruits attention.

Memphis is going to be tough, especially with the new transfers being oked. I wouldn't be surprised to see the winner of the conference have 3-4 losses in conference play.

I agree. And Temple at Temple will not be easy.
