It's going to be really interesting how this plays out. LB seems to be building a roster of versatile, athletic guys who can get out and run but in his first two years he has been all about the half court set, working through the post. If MK is out, we are going to have to get up and down the court, especially since that is where Yanick excels. I can't wait to see how LB handles this situation.

Arkansas went big because Anderson had suspended a couple of starters for the first half. Qualls was one of them. He tore it up in the 2nd half. Portia and Qualls. Those are the 2 to contain as best we can. I think we have the bigs to slow Portis somewhat. It is Qualls who gets out best defender.

Wasn't it Qualls who lit it up against us last year? (of course most of the team did). That's going to be a crazy game - they are very good. Damn, I wish we had MK back. Sucks.

Without Nick and Shawn (not stat stuffers but very mature/solid competitors) and a tougher schedule (and no MK), I'm starting to get nervous about this season. Could we take a step backwards from last year? Was last year our cinderella run and reality sets in place this year? I worry all our expectations are way too high for this team. We'll see.

Come on, Ojai. Don't slip back into that thinking. This team is loaded with high end talent. We all want MK and it will suck if he misses time but that will just force LB to adjust. He's a HOF coach for a reason. Outside of Nic, this team is capable of overcoming the loss of any one player.

They are good, no doubt. The pedestal y'all have put them on is pretty steep though. We played them away and it was the first major press we had faced. If I remember correctly we missed close shots to the basket. So much so that when I played pick up for the next two months... if anyone missed a layup the running joke was they could play for SMU. Many of those misses were not contested.

How many did they graduate last year?

Last year, Crandall Head missed 2 layups and an uncontested dunk against Arkansas IIRC

Exactly. I remember watching the Virginia game and thinking we were not yet at our best as well.

We were a much better team from January on. Much of this team now has the benefit of 30 more games together.

Arkansas has improved also. Most all back and now they have a point guard they needed. They will be a good test. I say we win at Moody but they would be tough up there.
