Then Larry suggests you be in your seats at tip-off.
Re: Do you want SMU to win?Make the games later then. People can't always leave work hours early.
Re: Do you want SMU to win?C'mon coach, now you're being a jerk. This isn't Kansas (for +/-). Lawrence is a town where you can go from one side of the city to the other in 15 minutes. Stop scheduling 6:00 games during the week. I can't leave work at 3:30 every time.
Now, students on the other hand... Pony up!
Re: Do you want SMU to win?
I think if we want to solve this issue, we need to focus on ways to get the students there earlier and speed up the entrance process. That'll help mask the other late arrivals that are always going to be an issue for 6PM starts. The average person isn't out of the office until 5p and Dallas traffic is a [deleted], especially in the area surrounding SMU.
Re: Do you want SMU to win? These 6 pm starts are stupid.

Re: Do you want SMU to win?Yes, even on a normal start time nobody shows up on time but really hard for a 6pm on a Friday.
Should be better in Jan I would think.
Re: Do you want SMU to win?I think I've managed to miss a Tip Off or Kickoff twice in 50 years. Once because my car slide on sheet of ice and once because I fell for the ESPN EST game time a bunch of years ago. It can be done

Re: Do you want SMU to win?SMU fans are always late to everything. This can be solved with "culture change".
6PM starts are extra brutal. This can be solved with sensible scheduling.

Re: Do you want SMU to win?
That's great. I normally leave work early for these early tip offs as well. It's just not realistic to expect casual SMU fans to do that and some people just don't have that flexibility. (My wife sometimes arrives late because she absolutely cannot leave work before 4p.)
Yep. Sucks, but just because it's not SMU's fault doesn't solve the obvious issues with 6PM starts.
Re: Do you want SMU to win? Also, anyone saying this doesn't happen at traditional basketball schools is fooling themselves. Even Cameron Indoor takes a few minutes into the game to fill up. The truly glaring difference is the student section.
Not to mention, 6PM starts really don't happen that often. We only have one more this year. (Temple on Thursday, February 19th.) For 7PM starts, there is no excuse.
Re: Do you want SMU to win?For student sections, distribute two tickets for every seat available. Then let them know that once the sections are full, no more will be admitted.
Re: Do you want SMU to win?If we want to be big time we have to deal with some bad start times for TV.
I am fine with some people getting there late because of work or traffic but not over half the crowd! Culture change. Shake It Off Moody
Re: Do you want SMU to win?If we are going to be big time, have to beat "name" programs which hasn't happened this year.
