Roy Tarpley died at 50 today. HOF talent but he had too many demons. Those mid to late 80s Mavs made me love basketball.

OT: Roy Tarpley, RIP

For many Dallas basketball fans, Tarpley was what should have been.

He was one of those rare players that could control a game by themselves. I hope he was able to find some kind of peace before dying. RIP

Ouch.

Roy was a childhood idol for me. Unfortunately he was also the reason I learned what a DWI was.

How did the title of my thread get changed?? I never say RIP...

I know we've got bigger things to worry about today but can anyone change another person's post with their knowledge?

He was a 20-20 machine, and that was even when he was high.

It seemed he was always at the top of his game whenever he got busted.

I still think it is just flat out wrong for permanently banning a player for taking
drugs that are not even performance enhancing, unless they think
Cocaine is performance enhancing. Who knows, maybe it was performance enhancing for Roy.

He was a true power forward that could also be used as a stretch 4,
a real basketball freak, especially for those days.
