Everyone chill the [deleted] out

Keith was much improved this season but is far from irreplaceable. Sterling started over him for like 20 games last year so it's not like we don't have experienced options behind him. Markus is back in his groove and we still have the most talented team in the conference. The ncaa can go pound sand, there's no way anything with KF even comes close to what happened at UNC and they'll get a playful slap on the wrist. We have four great players coming on board next year- none of which will be academic headaches.

Beat ECU on Sat. and enjoy the rest of the ride.

Keith is not the worry. The NCAA investigation is the concern. In case you do not know, we have a track record with these and the outcomes have not been good.

The third shoe to drop. Imagine all prior wins vacated.

NCAA investigation is probably more related to Prime Prep. no facts or inside info, just speculating...

Yes I think we can all agree that mostly everyone loved Keith and he played his tail off for us and was a good player. He was not the best wing in the country though and the time will be alright if Emelogu and Moore step up.

The biggest concern is our lack of control in keeping kids eligible. It is particularly alarming now that we are going after more high profile football recruits as well. Would hadteto see the FB team getting some success then having huge amounts of academic casualties.

Time to move on from this.

KF is done for the year. Sterling and Emelogu need to step up.

KF will be back next year, hopefully, but there's nothing else we can do this year.

There's still a lot of basketball to be played.

Agree on all points except #2. I really don't think we will see Keith play ball at SMU again. Not only is it the grades at SMU, but the Lincoln HS Scandal that is re-surfacing.

I'm as frustrated as anyone about Keith, but I still believe we can win the American without him. We have a great team - Sterling and Emelogu will have to step up, but not a huge killer for our season.

What I'm most worried about is:

1. How this looks to our commits/recruits - would you blame them for thinking SMU doesn't have its act together in terms of athlete support, etc.? PR wise SMU Basketball looks like a bit of a dumpster fire with all of the news coming out.

2. NCAA investigation. SMU is a small private school. Not UNC. They have and always will handle the SMUs of the world differently than the UNCs of the world.

I really do not envision this as a recruiting issue. We just have not handled it well and hopefully are learning and moving forward. This can be explained. The NCAA issue is my worry.

I think Keith's time is done at SMU and I would be worried about the investigation...good thing is that we have depth and I think this team can rally especially if Markus continues to play well.

I'm actually not too worried about the investigation, I doubt there were any major violations because SMU compliance is no joke. Even if there were violations I doubt it can be said there is a lack of institutional control. My guess if anything comes of it it will be limited to player/coach involved. Big thing is we have to keep chugging along and continue to show support for this team so SMU keeps trying to have a program we can be proud of. The biggest test will be what kind of resources will SMU dedicate to basketball and what can Coach Jank due recruiting wise when LB leaves. If Coach Jank can recruit classes near the top 25 every year we will be ok. If not it's back to being terrible.

Actually, 5 coming on next year, right?

We are still 8 legit players deep, which is better than a lot of tourney teams.

My two cents --- totally agree chill. Until we know more its important to keep supporting the team and not worry about what cant be controlled. Yes, SMU should make sure, and maybe they are, that they do what they can to support student athletes . The obvious is to make sure we dont do anything fishy with recruiting. Other then lets trust and support Larry and the team through this season. What a great feeling it would be to win conference and at least a few games into the tourney even after all the negatives.

Technically 3. Shake, Sed, and Foster.

Semi is already here and Vick is going to prep school for a year.
