Top 25?

Did we do enough to get back in to the Top 25, or do we need another a couple more wins?

My guess is we move to somewhere in the high 20's an then two more wins and we get back in.

After last year I guess it really doesn't even matter

TCU being ranked earlier this season showed just how truly meaningless the top 25 is in college basketball. With that said I agree we are getting close and noticed 23, 24 and 25 all lost yesterday.

We will just get a few more votes when the poll comes out tomorrow. Win the rest of our games in January, and we should get back in.

I think we'll be around 30 tomorrow. If we win next week at Tulane and beat Houston Saturday we might get in.

Top 25 matters for coverage, not for the Tournament.

The fact we have four losses by mid January and we're discussing the possibility of being ranked tells how far this program has come.

I'm a little concerned at our depleted roster.. Reminds me of when cinci had Kenyon Martin and should've been a #1 seed... Martin broke his leg and cmte took into account, knocking them down a few notches

Top 25 is kind of a joke but it is great exposure to have your scores on the ticker in just about every sports broadcast in the nation.

(until you have a bad loss of course) :)

That happened very late in the season in the conference tournament so there was no time for Cincy to show how they would play without him. Not really analogous to our situation at this point since there are 12 games left plus the conference tourney.

With regard to the question posed above, (i e have we done enough to be ranked) I believe it is quite relevant, as not unlike your argument points out we've done little since the roster change other than beat a crappy team.

I say we push our way to 25 this week. But tomorrow at noon the question will be answered.

Apologies, I thought you were talking about the tourney not the ranking. Never occurred to me that anyone would be concerned about the ranking since it is so unimportant.

Being ranked matters, not just for the public but for voters on the committee.

There were a lot of losses this week in the 18-25 range of both polls, and the top of the RV category. If SMU isn't ranked next week, I'd expect 26-30 and the chance to slot in the week after.

You are all assuming the voters actually watch the game. They don't. SMU beat the point spread by a little bit yesterday. That is fine. Winning the next two will help, but I think we will have to sweep all the way through the Tulsa game to get ranked.
