Tulane's best win was @ Memphis. Other than that they have beaten up on the worst teams in the conference (ECU, Houston and USF). They lost close games to UCF and Temple.

Unfortunately our 3 PT FG defense sucks, we are awful at closing out on defenders. That and turnovers have been our two biggest weaknesses this year.

Wouldn't that be closing out on shooters? 8)

We are not actually that bad at 3pt defending. There really has been only 1 or 2 times that an opponent has shot a very high/good field goal percentage on 3 point shots against us. Teams shoot a lot of 3's against us because, they can't generate points in the paint so they are left with catch and shoot options (usually with a defender contesting). Additionally, long shots lead to long rebounds that lead to defense out of position and more open second shots. Most teams simply aren't good enough o make 40%+ from behind the arc against us (which is what is needed to beat us) and most teams won't get enough possessions to have a chance if our guards are active on the defensive glass.

I know this has been said but it bears repeating. Our interior defense and our help from the weak side is pretty good. So that makes the number of threes a team is going to shoot against us higher than if we were not proficient at these things. It's perimeter city against us.

Also we tend to get at least two or three shot clock violations and work the other team way down on the clock quite often….MORE threes. It's frustrating when they go in but all-in-all we are doing a pretty decent job defensing them.

Tulane (unlike that bricklayers we played on Saturday) can really shoot the three.

Therein lies my larger than normal concern.

Hook and Dabney shoot a lot of threes and make 40%. My guess is Sterling will guard Hook - of his 157 FG attempts, 98 have been threes. As a team, one out of every three shots they take is behind the arc.

Agree…this is really the perfect time for Sterling and BE to get increased minutes. As much as I love Keith I could see him fouling on at least one and maybe more three point attempts as the shot clock winds down.

It will be interesting to see if LB tries to have them stay tighter to their men and not help so much underneath…especially as the rebounds will kick deeper. Sterling and Ryan excel at getting those and getting the ball to Nic and on up the floor.

I expect as high scoring game….80's.
