Sterling had 11 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists.
That's the Sterling I had hoped for all summer.
He's here right on time.

He still has a ways to go. That was a bonehead shot well before the buzzer to end the first half. There were a few other mistakes as well. As we tighten up on execution going into the homestretch I really hope he continues to improve. He's way better than he has shown and we need him.

That was a very dumb shot and wow did it [deleted] LB off. I don't think I've ever seen him get that mad.

On the season, these 3 guys have almost a 2:1 assist:turnover ratio
Sterling at 36:15
Ryan at 40:19
Nic at 103:58
Not too shabby
And then there is Ben Moore, best among the bigs with 49:41

Slightly related -- does anyone know what they were trying to accomplish on the defensive play right before that where it looked like someone (LB maybe?) signaled for a switch and Emelogu left his man completely open cross-court?

I'm curious about that too. Looked to me like Sterling was trying to get Emelogu in the right spot, but he wasn't able to get where he was supposed to be before they made the shot. But I didn't see who called for the change or even for sure if it was Sterling directing Ben E.

If he's still been at VT, they might have beaten UVA on Sunday. Quite a game.

“@JonRothstein: SMU's Sterling Brown in the three games since Keith Frazier has been ruled ineligible: 9.0 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 4.0 APG, 4-7 from 3-pt. Glue Guy.â€

That is fantastic, and I was worried about hi at the beginning of the season. He seemed to regress, but I think he was sick as well as not getting as much PT. He really has turned it up a notch or two.

I don't think he regressed he simply was getting less minutes and was primarily just asked to play suffocating defense. Sterling is a good player was last year is this year. Keith is overall better because he has more offensive game and was doing a good job on Defense and on the glass but that is not a knock on sterling at all.

just a guess that he really couldnt get a rhythm going with limited PT. He certainly wasnt good to start off the season.
