Quick Note: 2016 R150 PG Alani MooreApparently SMU is recruiting him and I couldn't be happier. This kid is one of the most under-rated and under-appreciated kids I think I've ever watched. Moore is a PG out of Montrose Christian (in MD and also where Kevin Durant went to school) in the Class of 2016. He's undersized which is his knock and quite frankly the reason big schools have waited on offering. The way I see it, the kid is a bit smaller version of Tyler Ullis. This kid can flat out score and gets everyone involved. He's one of the quickest guards I've ever seen. The first game (Against Franklin Ohio, one of top teams in the nation and have 5* Duke commit Luke Kennard), Alani had 35 points on 13-24 shooting in a two point 72-70 loss. He carried Montrose though, make no mistake. It was tough to distinguish who the best player on the floor was. The second game he was much quieter offensively but was effective on the floor.
So here's the bad/good news. He's very short. I'm talking listed at 5'9, not sure he's that tall. The good news...he's flying under the radar. Big schools have shied away from him from what I can tell at the moment but are starting to warm up to him. He comes from a great family and a month ago when I spoke with his mom, she had said that his only offers were Towson, UMass, Penn State and Rhode Island. A month later, he now has an offer from High Point and is receiving a lot of interest from both Tennessee and SMU. At any rate, probably best that people get aware of him, I expect him to move up the rankings here in the next few months. If he can develop some more consistency, he could be a very special prospect. EDIT: One other tidbit, his mom transferred him from DeMatha High School (if you don't know the school, look it up, it's a legendary program). She felt that his strengths weren't being exposed at DeMatha in the way the family would've liked and were attracted to the Montrose offense, which is essentially a motion that uses 3 guards, a swing forward, and a true post presence. Not anything to important but a little more background on him.
Re: Quick Note: 2016 R150 PG Alani MooreFor the last time a small PG cannot be successful at SMU. Especially with that name on the back of his jersey.
Re: Quick Note: 2016 R150 PG Alani Moore
I agree and was just about to post the same thing. I mean, it has been at least 5 days since a PG like that had any success here at all.
Re: Quick Note: 2016 R150 PG Alani MooreI'll take more Moore, even a Moore with less.
Re: Quick Note: 2016 R150 PG Alani MooreDoes he have a twin brother who is 6'11" and 240lbs and a beast in the paint? Package deal?
Re: Quick Note: 2016 R150 PG Alani MooreFirst two sentences all I could think about was new Tyler Ullis...then you mentioned him.
Ding ding ding "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Quick Note: 2016 R150 PG Alani Moore
He plays like him, less gifted as a passer than Ullis but better offensively too. He just looks like him the way he operates. Ojai-No he doesn't have a brother that's 6'11 that I'm aware of. I think his mom or him would've said something to me
Re: Quick Note: 2016 R150 PG Alani MooreWorld record for number of Moores on a team?
Re: Quick Note: 2016 R150 PG Alani Moore
The football team does it... ![]() Texas bites. Baylor sucks. As it was in the beginning, is now, and evermore shall be. Amen.
Re: Quick Note: 2016 R150 PG Alani MooreSweet--I kind of feel like they need to be Richardson, D.; Richardson, H.; and Richardson, J.R.
Re: Quick Note: 2016 R150 PG Alani MooreNice blue jerseys.
Re: Quick Note: 2016 R150 PG Alani MooreNot sure if I can post this, but here's a Rivals story on him. If I can't post this mods, please take it down. My apologies.

Re: Quick Note: 2016 R150 PG Alani Moorewhy not continue the Moore tradition at SMU? 1st there was Butch, then Bic, then Ben so why not Alani?
Re: Quick Note: 2016 R150 PG Alani MooreThanks ohiobrownfan for the post...I like how he plays...hi size is acceptable and the current Moore could help us get him.Obviously we would like a bigger size PG but he can fit. And yes we all know about Dematha HS....no need to explain to sports fans.
Re: Quick Note: 2016 R150 PG Alani Moore
Yeah, I never know how much people follow HS sports, especially outside their area so I was trying to give a bit of background. I figured 99% that were interested in this post would know DeMatha though. Anyways, that's how I feel too. Undersized but production is too much to ignore. And he's going against top competition playing for Montrose that it'd be stupid to think it won't translate to the next level.
