MK playing scared late?

Big point of discussion with people around me late in the game.
After he had one or two of his shots blocked, he seemingly backed off offensively during the 2nd half. Most notably late in the game when he was next to the basket and instead of going up he passed it out, which wound up with the ball out of bounds and Cincy getting the ball back w/1 min. to go.
Others just said he was having a bad game.
Not really sure what to make of his game tonight, honestly.

I don't think he was playing scared. Cincinnati has some good athletic solid tall bigs that can play. It happens.

No, Ellis shut him down the entire game.

Ben Moore was the issue. Shouldn't have been in the game. Most tentative soph I've ever seen. Don't understand.

OK, this is kinda confirming what I was thinking.
If I had to assign a label, I'd say MK looked frustrated tonight.
But there were def people around me who said he was playing scared, FWIW.

Cincy has quicker jumpers inside. This is Kennedy's big NBA weakness. Happened a lot down the stretch last year too

just for perspective Cincy is 5th in Points allowed (ouit of 345 teams) and 9th in blocks. They are a little better than us defensively even though inside scoring and rebounding is an SMU strength. They are a very poor offensive team that somehow hit some big shots late in the shot clock. That sucked

Kennedy got his.clock cleaned. Not ready for prime time, much less.the bigs. Moreira looked.like a schoolgirl.

Agree with this and previous. Kennedy is not very quick. NBA downside. Have posted on several threads that I'd like to see a college box score where a team that hit over 50% from 3 lost.
The Ags from UCD lead the nation in 3 point percentage at about 45 (E. Washington is in the top 5).

And to answer my own question I did, in fact, find one game this year where a team shot over 50% from beyond 3 and lost.. it was the Ags of UCD. However in their haste to shoot 3 pointers it appears that they turned the ball over 25 times against Hawaii. Also a poor indicator of success.

that was a big difference in the game. I believe Cincy had like 13 Turnovers in First Half but only 4 in second half

He needs to play this game over and over in his head before deciding to declare after this season. Still work to be done, and it is best done at this level against game competition.

Cincy had 9 turnovers in the first 8 minutes!
But, we couldn't hit any shots so we couldn't get off to a big lead like we should have.

^This plus being out rebounded killed us. SMU just got out played last night. Give Cincinnati credit.
