if I want to upgrade my seats: do I donate my current level and they will notify if there is an upgrade and I donate addt'l later? or do I have to over donate up front with the chance of getting stuck in the same seats?

I think you have to donate at least to the level you hope to be seated to qualify for a shot at those seats
