SMU Schedule Leaves Plenty of Off-Time

Postby Stallion » Wed Feb 11, 2015 4:28 pm

anybody notice how our schedule is back-loaded with off days after the UH/UCONN Thurday/Saturday games. After that we get 5 days until Temple, 7 days until Memphis, 3 days until UCONN and then another 7 days until Tulsa.
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.

It will be a nice advantage down the home stretch to get guys some rest and let Nic's anckel get healthy. After we get through the quick pair of games coming up no excuses for fatigue for the rest of the way.

I'm bored out of my mind waiting for these games already, though as Pony_Law said...will definitely be good to get some of our boys some rest.

Need the rest for the AAC tourney. Season all comes down to that run.

It is a really good advantage this time of year.
I am surprised that Cinci has an out of conference game with Xavier coming up.

We really need to Cincinnati to win that game.

That game's normally played in December and I don't know why it was pushed back to Feb.

I don't like playing once a week late in the year. It helps get everyone healed, but also takes away rhythm. Also, the wait between games will be agonizing lol

The wait is terrible for fans, but I think any LB team has a huge advantage when they get lots of practice time in before an opponent.

layoff and rust are a much bigger factor than preparation. We're not really X & O'ing our way to wins this year

I'm worried about Houston with a hobbled Nic Moore more than anything.

Consider the context...our best player has a sore/sprained ankle. Every hour off works to our advantage.

Long layoffs mean fluke upsets, always been the case.

Actually, that is not true and an abdurd blanket statement....it is a classic post hoc referendum. When a team w a long layoff wins, it is often attributed to rest and when they lose, to rust. There are countless examples of teams w long layoffs pulling upsets just as there are examples to fit ur narrative.

The bottom line is considering the circumstances, every day of rest helps. Our entire offense essentially runs through one player and he is dinged...we need him as healthy as possible to have the best chance to win.
