What hath Larry wrought.

Postby Arkpony » Sat Feb 14, 2015 11:39 am

Watching our great coach on TV this morning my heart was was filled with pride and joy. We are so very, very fortunate this great man chose SMU. When I read the few criticisms of him on here (no timeouts taken, improper rotation, etc) I can't help but think "My God folks! Look where he has taken us in the basketball world in just 3 short years!". All I can say is Than you Larry! Thank you so much!
And ooh yes, BEAT UCONN!

Completely agree. The man is human but I'm saving up to contribute to the statue.

Last year I saw LB at a local establishment with another coach. When it appeared they were ready to leave I walked up to him, shook his hand, and said, "I am sorry to bother you.. I had to thank you for making SMU relevant again." He smiled and said, thank you, I am very glad to be here." He then told me about Dave Bliss kissing him at the SMU - Kansas game. He actually laughed out loud.

I have lost track of the number of people that have reached out to me asking if SMU is really in the top 25. The press has been amazing. Thank you Coach Brown and team!

Larry spoke before taping started and thanked everyone for showing up. Added that he hoped Gameday coming to Dallas would be an annual tradition. Had a blast this morning at Moody.

I would point out...he has taken us so far in such a short time that we now have a fan base that both expects results and feels compelled to be critical of calls made at clutch times in big games. That is the sign, no matter how confused at times, of a fan base that cares about the game and program and team and players and coach. That is what be brought, because winning happens many places but instilling a culture is rather unique at this time. So I say, [deleted] and whine and complain...but support the team. Care both during the game, and after. Call for better facilities and for us to recruit and enroll better players, then call for the school to support those students with better academic support. Demand that SMU is a destination for those who love the sport, all sports, and all that accompanies that. If you do that, then you will be supporting the legacy that LB is building here.

It's incredible the culture change of this program in under three years. It's truly remarkable.

Hard to imagine how some people didn't like the hire. i wasn't so sure of it myself - but wow, what a change. Its like its been this way forever somehow - it is such a good fit for our school that it all seems very natural all of a sudden.

I am thankful to him every day. I have met him after a couple of our road games and he is always very gracious with his time.
