That kid was great! Lots of swagger. I am in the haze and fog of advancing years but maybe someone remembers a half court shot promotion during the Russ Potts years. I think Bankston Nissan (Datsun?) sponsored a promotion to give away a car for hitting the shot. I think it was one contestant with one chance at each home game. As I recall, Bankston had to give away a car each of the first two games and then we never heard another word about the contest. Anyone from those days remember anything like this or am I dreaming?

I once had a shot from half court at Moody for a trip for 2 to Hawaii. Think it was sponsored by Burger King and was during the Dave Bliss era. I only got one attempt and clanked it off the rim to the right.

Here is the Paul Harvey "Rest of the Story" as best as I recall. The half court shot was insured so that the dealership did not have to pay for the car out of pocket. But, the policy cancelled after the shot, and, two games later, another half court shot was made and they had to pay for that car. My insurance partner was called in and quickly arranged for another policy to finish out the year.

Great end to the story! Thanks. Sounds like a Lloyds of London kind of policy
