if the music isn't loud enough or the Dj isn't playing enougIt's on the Videoboard and in the PA script, but text us at (214) 516-7010 in-game. Thanks!
That reminder should be a part of the game threads for each home game remaining (Harry?). All of you guys need to realize that FC Dallas and SMU share a lot of common people beyond just the Hunts and Hyndman. FC Dallas, forever, catered to families. Nobody, NOBODY complains louder than families with kids. FC Dallas and MLS in general for a long time squashed atmosphere at matches by making them overly family-friendly. It wasn't until Seattle and Portland came around and FC Dallas realized that there was a lot of money to be made from actual soccer fans that they redid their supporters section and made the atmosphere fun at the stadium. SMU is in a similar situation. They don't spend enough on marketing to understand or know what the voice of the fan is. They don't understand that last night is what will keep people coming back forever. They don't understand the market well enough to understand the silent majority of 700K college basketball fans in DFW who want to pay money for a great experience but aren't going to complain when it isn't. Instead, they just won't come. Instead, they react to what they hear. Which is the voice of the parents. And the group that complains almost as much as parents - old people. They are effectively listening to 500 complainers instead of the 700K who would have loved last night. So, make that number part of every game thread. Tell the Mob to text during the game. We should all text during the game - specific examples of when the band breaks up the crowd intensity. Also, text examples when you are watching other college basketball games and how that game program is run really well during timeouts. Examples can have a great impact, just like Portland and Seattle had on FC Dallas. As a side note, both the Mustang Club and the SMU athletic department would be well served to have someone volunteer who represents the passionate fan. Just to get their perspective before taking actions that will weed out the majority.
Re: if the music isn't loud enough or the Dj isn't playing eI think more SMU fans need to travel and see some of the other great venues. It's not about blowing out eardrums with rave like music; it's about getting all 7,000+ fans cheering. Installing cup holders will do more than being obnoxious with ill-advised music placement. The truly good venues don't need [deleted] music to carry the atmosphere. They can blow the top off at 110+ with just fans. Put down your beer and cheer.
Pony up!
Re: if the music isn't loud enough or the Dj isn't playing eits both CMF. The loud music definitely helps to ramp up the crowd.
Re: if the music isn't loud enough or the Dj isn't playing e
Don't disagree one bit. Problem is the music programming sucks and is awkward as virgins bumping uglies. So what we have is deafening music and 5,000 fans standing around holding beer instead of clapping and cheering. The music should support the atmosphere, not carry it. Pony up!
Re: if the music isn't loud enough or the Dj isn't playing eThe music never felt deafening to me at all. It should NOT be turned down.
Re: if the music isn't loud enough or the Dj isn't playing eThe aisles aren't wide enough for cup holders. People have enough trouble getting by without a pice of plastic tripping you ever three feet.
Re: if the music isn't loud enough or the Dj isn't playing e
I'm just saying they need to get a sound crew in after the season to redistribute the sound...and install cup holders. Honestly, not complaining, just providing feedback from 4 fans. Grateful we're moving in the right direction. Pony up!
Re: if the music isn't loud enough or the Dj isn't playing eIt simply comes down to timing and cooperation. You have multiple departments involved (Student Life, Rec Sports, Band, Athletics and SMU proper) in a game presentation. Chieftains from all of those groups need to sit down this offseason and find a way to coordinate better. Reasonable people can disagree but if everyone is pushing towards making SMU Athletics the best it can be, we should be able to improve.
I honestly am not convinced that some of those aforementioned groups are interested in subjugating their needs/wants for the betterment of this Program.
Re: if the music isn't loud enough or the Dj isn't playing eSeriously, SMU just won one of the biggest games of the year. You don't like the presentation, buy your own GD university.
Re: if the music isn't loud enough or the Dj isn't playing e
Mob helmets with cupholders. Somebody run with it. You'll sell as many as you can make. Party at The Wopper!
Re: if the music isn't loud enough or the Dj isn't playing e
Is this Rick Hart? We aren't allowed to make suggestions to improve the experience? Why are you trying to shut our voice out? You're acting magoo. I miss Troy Matthews.
Re: if the music isn't loud enough or the Dj isn't playing e
Agreed. #HammerDown
Re: if the music isn't loud enough or the Dj isn't playing eWe are going to learn how to be real fans one day..
Re: if the music isn't loud enough or the Dj isn't playing eI think its good people are still complaining and trying to fix things. It shows why most people on this board are successful (I assume) in the professional world. Be happy when things go right, but never get complacent. Always demand bigger and better and never be happy with just pretty good. Just like sports, never lose your edge because as soon as you do someone will kick your [deleted]. I think this is all this is, and why people always complain on ponyfans. Everyone is ecstatic how well we are doing, but because in general SMU alumns are a group of smart people we all are still demanding more because we aren't the best... yet.
