Since most of the first round games don't come anywhere near a sell out, is it possible to buy a ticket through the host school/arena?

Just so you know, many sites do sell out actually. They're sold in strips, therefore people only show up to the games when their team is playing sometimes, that's why an arena looks empty. The ticket itself is actually sold and depending on what site, it can be very expensive. Many sites will not be possible to buy through. Host schools and arenas had presales last February for this year's tournament. Buying now is your best bet, once the teams are announced, very tough. Most good seats are gone at this point at a lot of sites and places like Lousiville are impossible to get tickets because UK will be there.

We had a first round in Little Rock one year and they had a lottery for tickets very early. They sold out quickly. I got 4 and was able to use them, but I am sure many were resold.

They are only available for pickup at the ticket office, which is a big reason why you see so many empty seats - its not like you can buy them now and then sell them if you decide not to go.
I signed up for every potential game.

So weirdly it's letting me do this (even though I'm a student), so whats the protocol here. I just sign up for everything and will only get charged if SMU makes it there?
