Since after temple game I said he should have to pay tuition, I should probably complement Ben on a good game last night. Didn't see him much in the second half, but he hit a big 3 and made a difficult basket in transition in the first half. If the lightbulb goes off for him before the tourney, that will just make us that much better

He got some good looks last night and some flashes of what made him so good last year.
When he's off, though...
But yeah, much improved.

Thought the same thing. I think for him it's all in his head. I felt like that first bucket lifted his confidence - he was flying around on D and hit that 3.
We need him to step up and give us 5-12 minutes off the bench.

Would love it if he turns out to be our tournament surprise player. I agree its all in his head. His skill is real. Seeing him hit that three last night was huge.

He plays hard, is very strong, and gets rebounds. He is a valuable piece.

I think he brings a fair amount to the table that doesn't show in the stat sheet, particularly on defense, but his missed 3 last night that bounced over the backboard seemed like it captured the frustration with his season well... missed shot and no chance for a rebound.
That being said, I'm glad he is coming back. I still think he can be a solid player for us... perhaps filling the Ryan Manuel role next year (except with reduced time... I assume Shake and Sed will take some of those minutes)

I know its been said before but it takes about a year to really understand the system in place and get comfortable in it.

He had one really strong rebound in particular that made me think he might be starting to reach a comfort level of doing instead of thinking.
He and Ryan were both really conservative with shot selection last night, but for the most part we ended up with a better shot in the end.

That was a huge rebound he pulled down.

Yes, I think he doesn't feel comfortable, gotta feel for him and you know he wants to contribute. His defense is pretty darn good.

Very strong. Took a lot of contact on the transition layup which made it a tougher shot than it looked. Should have been an and 1.

I couldn't believe they didn't call that.

Gu always contributes solid defense and rebounds well. With an 8 man rotation, he's going to be an important piece of any post season success we might have

I do think it's all in his head. Having said that we miss too many FTs to have the luxury to have him on the court for too long. Won't lie when I cringe when he's on the court and takes a shot. I still blame him for giving life to Cincy at our home game and wish he would have less minutes. Having said thatmhe committed less errors and actually contributed a little bit on offense last night.
