They were daring our guards to shoot from 3 point range

They were leaving our guards (except Nic) open around the 3 point line and they packed it in on our bigs. Kevin Ollie made adjustments after getting beaten at SMU. Let's hope on one else cut defend Nic as well as UConn did today.

Nic had plenty of chances today. Just wasn't hitting.

Memphis did the same thing. We still scored in the seventies. We played much better offensively in the second half when we spread it out better. UConn hitting shots on our defense was bigger.

Seriously. Nic missed some open looks and Connecticut hit freaking everything. One of those days.

Sterling made hem pay when he was left open; it was Ryan they were daring to shoot the 3 and even with time running out he wouldn't take those open looks from the top of the key. He needs to practice that shot because he will have open looks all day long come tournament time. Definitely need Ryan and Gu to step up and along with Sterling take some pressure off Nic

If our guys are open they have to take the shot. Have to.

This

SB has to take more shots, tons of open looks that he and RM passed on. NM was off big time.

Point is whether he had open looks and missed or whether he was getting D'ed up the other guards have to be able not just to shot but make jump shots. Sterling did okay but I would not call it lights out. Probably could have used KF a in this game. Coach Kevin Ollie made adjustments from their last game with us and corrected what they needed to correct in order to beat us. We'll see if Tulsa tries that strategy. If not I think we will beat Tulsa with no major issues.

There are days when you hit everything and days when you lay bricks. This was one of those days for us. Nick was rubbing his wrist after a hard foul on him, and I wonder if that affected his outside shooting later in the game (although he was cold all day). They were packing the box and the only way to beat that is to simply hit those jumpers. We were even missing 12 footers. They hit everything including almost all of their free throws.

Kudos to UCONN.
