http://www.dallasnews.com/Imagine if Larry and co. can continue to produce results such as these? SMU basketball will be a Dallas staple in no time. So proud of the team and very appreciative of Larry and his staff.

Dallas will stop down Thursday afternoon to watch us for the first time, maybe ever. Hope we put on a good show.

Texas is playing at the same time so there will be competition for those eyeballs. They are on cbs while we are on trutv.

True, we start during their half time. Bars will have them side by side.

I've said time and again the DMN will start to care when the school and it's alumni care. The university has made an effort, the fans and alumni have bought in, and now the paper is catching up. TCU made an effort and look where they are. But it isn't the papers job to sell a produnct that even the producer has shown little or no interest in.
And no, we AREN'T Dallas. What? 50,000? local alumni out of 2M in Dallas does not make us the city's school - there are more people every home game in Jerry's stadium than there are local alumni. WE have to make us relevent.

The DMN is a UT rag pure and simple. This was the case even when we were top 10 in FB and going to the NCAA tourney regularly in hoops. They are masters at putting a negative spin on our program while ignoring or downplaying UT's transgressions. Their "investigative" sports journalism is usually aimed at SMU when they feel that we are a recruiting threat. I remember them doing a hatchet piece on the students when I was an undergrad. The article was essentially reinforcing community stereotypes that we were a bunch of spoiled brats. Not balanced at all, just a bunch of comments by SMU employees about how expensive our cars and jewelry were.

Look we are physically located in Dallas, well HP but you get the point. My opinion is that the local paper should serve the local community first. Let Austin support Texas, whacko support bwho (whatever pos paper is there), the star telegram support TCU. We are Dallas's team! Get behind it or [deleted] off.
Ok I'm done

You are right. We are no more "Dallas" than TCU is "Fort Worth" but the Startlegram LUVS the Frogs becuase they are boosters of all things Fort Worth. DMN sees its job as one of cutting SMU down to size and pleasing its UT masters.

They like to set us up and then knock us down. Nothing new in the world of news coverage.
