Good effort vs Hawaii
Posted: Mon Feb 10, 2003 11:35 amOP got to see the Ponies on TV. They have come miles from the early season. Q is just spectacular. BHop is learning his primary role (8 assist and 4 to's) and even though he had a horrible shooting night, he made a very solid contibution. Isham played really well on D and Castro gave another solid game. Simpson played a really strong game. Lowe was huge off the bench and was the difference. Kelley had a solid contibution too on the boards. If we can get some help from Voc and Miller, this team could be really good. I wouldn't want to face the Ponies now or in the WAC tourney, especially if BHop gets his shot back.
The only negatives were a few defensive lapses from not knowing where their man was, horrid 3 point shooting(only Q and Lowe made any), and not enough players on the bench played. Dement did a good job of adjusting and keeping them focused (especially after BHop's technical). The Ponies are a dangerous team now and are playing smarter each game.
