Jerry Jones on SMU goaltending call

He was basically comparing it with the Dez Bryant no catch call. He said it was a catch but not by the rules and compares that with the SMU goaltending say it was not going in but it was goaltending by the rules. (NOT!)

On the change in language to the catch rule:
Jones: “Well of course that’s history. [Dez Bryant] caught the ball. I do understand the dilemma since we have the ability to slow the play down [with] instant replay. But if you don’t have instant replay, that’s a touchdown. I don’t know if we’re headed to the Super Bowl but that’s a touchdown by the people that eyeballed it and were right there. It was a touchdown. Our rules are unique. It’s kind of like the [SMU player] that got the goaltending the other day [in the Mustangs’ NCAA Tournament loss to UCLA]; the ball was no way going to go in but he had his hand in the wrong place and so they lost the game. We’d like to think that because of instant replay, we could have rules that when it’s obvious it’s a catch that would determine that it’s a catch. That’s unsettling I think for fans and certainly teams that were depending on it being a catch. But we had a couple go our way too in the playoffs.â€
