I wish nothing but the best for the kid, but I always felt he was a bit overrated.

Now, he will probably be a millionaire soon, but I don't see a very productive on the court NBA career. (I could be wrong).

If your stock value is high I don't care if you only average 1 ppg you go pro. Too much of a chance for injury if he stays.

Completely expected. With an uncertien coaching situation and this kids physical measurable a he was always going to enter the draft.

Granted, I only saw him play a couple of times, but the times I did, he looked like a very promising freshman.

But still a freshman.

I agree with Junior, we didn't miss out on much. I don't think that the season turns out much differently had Myles come to SMU. He simply may not have played that much.

Turner Could have played his way into being a top 3 pick if he were in a situation with the right coach and he was willing to spend 2-3 years in college. He has the raw talent/physical attributes to be that good just hasn't been in the situation to develop it properly. He could very easily end up as a d-league nothing.

If he does (and it would not terribly surprise me, I've not been very impressed), he'll be a D-League nothing with the $$$ from one lottery pick contract in the NBA.

There are worse things to be.

Like maybe if he came here instead of going to Texas?

Maybe, maybe not. But either way, he'd be crazy to stay in school more than the one required year.

In his current situation yes he would be crazy to stay. But he will likely not be a lottery pick which means a) much less money and b) much more likely not to make the NBA roster and wind up in the D-league where it is harder to develop. Turner created this situation by choosing to go to texas with a coach like Barnes. Barnes chronically underachieved at Texas because he never developed his players. His players were either already lights out (Durant and T.J.Ford), or had raw talent that developed after they got into the NBA (Aldridge, Tristan Thompson, and maybe Turner). turner needed 2 things from his 1 year in college, a lot of playing time and a great basketball teacher. He didn't really get either at Texas. At smu he would have gotten a great teacher but would needed to have put in more than 1 year to get the playing time.

Turner is projected as a lottery pick. Usually first rounders do make the team. Now the 2nd rounders are less likely to make the team because they do not have guaranteed contracts like the 1st rounders do.

In the NBA, you make your money on the 2nd contract, not the 1st. If he isn't NBA ready (and he isn't) if he is not productive his first 3 years, he cost himself a lot of money on that big 2nd contract instead of developing his game for 2-3 years where he will be NBA ready from day 1. This isn't unique to Turner, so many guys leave to early as the NBA draft is about potential not production.
