Here is how everything is going to finish...

While I lack the hoop smarts of various luminaries on this board like the CPC or Prof X, I do have supernatural abilities which allow me to glimpse how everything is going to pan out for the WAC conference tourney.

The seedings:

1. Tulsa
2. SMU
3. Nevada
4. Rice
5. Hawaii
6. La Tech
7. Boise. St
8. SJSU
9. UTEP

The games go like this:

Thursday 3/13

SMU vs. Boise St.
Nevada vs. La. Tech
Rice vs. Hawaii
Tulsa vs. SJSU

This based on a few things happening this week:

SMU beats La Tech
Hawaii wins out
Tulsa beats Nevada **
Fresno St. beats Rice

** This win by Tulsa will be the reason we are seeded higher than Nevada because in the event of a tie between 2 teams for a position other than first, the tied teams records are compared with the team at the top of the conference and then work your way down from there. We have beaten Tulsa once while Nevada would have lost to Tulsa twice. That is the tie-breaker.

(Anybody who thinks the Tulsa win wasn't big is smoking crack)

In conclusion, we will be opposite of Tulsa in the tourney, but possibly facing Nevada in the 2nd round if we make it that far. We will also be playing the earliest possible games, since the bracket will flip because Tulsa, as the host team, automatically gets the latest possible game. That is all for now. The attacks may begin now.

No attack, Ed, just a question. Are you certain that the tiebreaker will be SMU's win over Tulsa, and not Nevada's win over Fresno? Fresno was the regular season champion, is the WAC simply discounting all of Fresno's results because they are not in the tournament? If so, CPC has not heard this. This could very well be the case, it wouldnt be a surprise. But CPC has not heard official word of such a decision. if you have, please share.

The Tulsa/Nevada game in Tulsa went right down to the wire, Nevada may be able to beat the Hurrican in Reno.
Some will tell you that a glass is half empty, and others that the same glass is half full. But all CPC really wants to know is...... does the drink taste good?

There is literally not a scenario in the rules for this situation, other than the very ambiguous "teams will draw to see who is the higher seed."

I made a phone call recently and the word was that they were "leaning" towards discounting Fresno's ability to affect the seedings. The rationale is that if we are not including them in the tournament, then why should they affect the seedings? Because of the manner in which ties are broken, Fresno affects every possible tie-breaker scenario at this point.
But excellent observation, as always. My analysis was based upon the WAC basically ignoring Fresno St with regards to all the tie breakers. That could change in a heartbeat, considering that this is all being done literally on the fly, like that resolution that magically appeared from the WAC president's meeting and being effective immediately. I'm sure the powers that be are mulling the language and legality of their next move, since there is no rule to address this.

CPC-

Forgot something. Remember, I lack your and others knowledge of the game itself. This scenario is not what I "think" is going to happen, but what I saw in my latest meditation. The TU/Nevada game is going to be interesting. But again, I saw what I saw...

Except you missed on the Rice/Fresno game. Looks like Fresno retired on active duty, kind of like La. Tech. At least they still played the game, though, unlike St. Bonaventure. It was funny to see that 2-0 final score flashing on ESPN all yesterday afternoon.
