Where to watch the game Thursday?

Postby boulevard bum » Sun Mar 09, 2003 3:23 pm

Someone mentioned that you could watch all the WAC tourney games at a sports bar. Which sports bar would be the best to watch the mustangs Thursday and Friday? Unfortunately, assuming we make the championship, I will not be able to watch the ESPN game on Saturday. I would like to watch the hopefully 2 games on Thursday and Friday. If anyone knows where most of the Mustang fans will be watching the game on ESPN Full Court let me know so I can make plans to be their. Thanks.

Bailey's 1st and 10. Mockingbird at Abrams, (NE corner of intersection in the shopping center).

You are supporting SMU by going there. No one is more loyal to SMU than 1st and 10. Great food. Great SMU atmosphere.

I would call first

A whole group of us went there last year, only to find out that they could not get the game on their dish.
That should not be the case this year, but I would call anyway.

Informant is correct that this is the place to go though.

If you have Digital Cable - the $49.00 deal for the rest of the year is a great deal! You not only will get EVERY WAC tourney game, but EVERY CUSA, BIG 12, SEC, and other conference Tournament games.

Bailey's doesn't have satellite or ESPN Full-Court. The only place around is Humperdink's on Greenville between Lovers and Southwestern. See you there!

Sorry BT...I don't have $160 to spend on going to a basketball game. Not to mention the cost of traveling. I'm going to try either bailey's or humperdinks. I plan on calling them tommorrow. When I find out if they will carry the game I'll post it. Thanks everyone for the information.

Not to worry - have fun at Humperdink's BUT start saving your pennies for next year (NOW). Does anyone know how many tickets were sold through the SMU ticket office?

It's kinda weird how they sell tickets to the WAC tourney. You basically get your choice of packages where you have to buy tickets to EVERY game offered at the tourney. The minimum cost for one of those packages is about $150 I believe. What I did last year, since i wasn't going up till gameday for the men's team, I bought session tickets for about $30 a pop. Each session get you two games, like the session tickets for SMU Men's first game would get you tickets to that games plus the Nevada game which starts afterwards. If you wanted to see the next two games that day, you would have to buy that particular session. I didn't get the whole package this year again, so I'm just going to buy each session I want in advance of the game. That may lead to me buying tickets from scalpers if we advance to the final against Tulsa, which will be costly I imagine. But I will gladly pay that price if it comes to that. And the more I think about it, the more it just makes more sense to buy the whole package. We will see. I do want to catch the women's games, which is why I'm leaving today for Tulsa.

BT Pony-

I agree with you and would love to have a large contingent come up for the game. But realistically, it is pricey between the tickets, the hotel accomodations and incidental costs associated with a trip. Plus this assumes working persons can take a few days off. In these leaner times, I can understand people not taking the trip...the minimum cost of this trip for me at this point is already around $500 and I haven't even jumped into the car yet.

Unless you have a really fast car you are going to miss the women's game since it starts at noon.

Will the women's game be on 660? I don't see it listed in the paper.

So did anyone confirm with Humperdink's? Will they have the game?

Nacho-

True, but I have faith in our women's team to advance beyond today's game.

PS. All of my modes of conveyance are fast, but I don't drive fast myself. There's no benefit to driving fast. Beg your pardon; very, very, very, very little benefit. Just can't understand why people do it...

SMU should beat Nevada today but without Sarah Davis the chances of advancing beyond today are pretty slim.

I'm not pretending to be some kind of WBB expert (I'll leave that to PX) but next year will be much better, with the addition of the UT and Vandy transfers, plus a healthy Cossey and hopefully the return of Walter.

I'm glad you drive slowly. I wish more people in Dallas drove sanely.

If there's something I feel strongly about, believe it or not, it's driving at reasonable speeds. I mean, if people analyzed the situation and realized that even when you're late for an engagement or something and you decide to drive 90mph to theoretically "make-up" the lost time...well, people need to realize how stupid they are acting. In theory, you could make up something like several seconds by increasing your speed in the areas where you realistically can drive that fast. You still have stoplights and toll booths, so you're basically only driving recklessly in shorts burts. The problem lies with the fact that in those moments of reckless driving, you're basically increasing the chances of getting into a fatal accident by a very large percentage. Are those several seconds really worth it?? Sorry, this is a sports board...I'll be quiet about bad drivers.
