Larry Brown's Future?

I'd say he finishes out the year-waits for appeal and unless there is a substantial reduction he fades away. The loss of 9 scholarships (-2 credited) is going to hit the program like a brick

If ncaa wants brown out why don't we appeal and during that process offer up LB if they lower the sanctions. Fire him or he resigns whatever. NCAA gets rid of LB for probably forever. If they are gunning for him I feel like that solves the problem.

If they are gunning for Smu in general then probably Doesn't matter what we do.

How about no. Then we're back to giving scholarships to j-frog2.

I would not be shocked if he resigned any day now. But that's been true since the day he was announced.

I'd love to see him on the bench for a few more years, but even if he leaves today I'm still very thankful that he came to coach at SMU.

I don't think him leaving would affect the sanctions whatsoever.

SMU knew this was a possibility the day they hired LB. Something about a tiger not changing it's stripes....

Perhaps Orsini was right in not wanting to interview him early on in the process.........

I'll guess he rides out the appeal but announces his retirement at the moment it will fire up the team the best for a post season run. This is gonna one pissed off bunch.

Orsini liked LB but felt it best to stay away because LB had a huge target on his back and he felt it was a when, not an if.

Not saying he was the wrong hire at the time...just that there was a reasonable risk that something could happen. With his track record, it just makes it difficult to give him the benefit of the doubt.

But he's also a great guy and a better coach. That's the problem with punishing the school. Other than age there's no reason to believe that if he resigns he wouldn't get another good coaching gig, or NBA front office job.

I hate that the punishment punishes the innocent players as much as anyone.

It punishes the fans pretty badly as well

Anyone thinking that Larry possibly resigns today? Gerald has a press conference at 2pm and Larry has one at 3:30pm...What would be the point of them not doing the press conference together?

I would hope that SMU wouldn't do this before generating the appeal because it may not be necessary, but just throwing it out there. Thought it was odd for them to have 2 separate press conferences.
