Jeff Goodman on ESPN 103.3

Was on for about 10 minutes. Key points he made:

- there are about 10 schools on the quarter system that could take Nic and Markus now. He knows of several schools blowing their phones up right now.
- there's a good chance our appeal would not be resolved by March and that would enable this year's team to be eligible for the post season. He used Syracuse as an example. They appealed their sanctions seven months ago and there still hasn't been a decision.
- they asked if LB will bolt now? He didn't think so. He believes LB will fight through this because he doesn't want to end things this way.

He said LB's biggest job right now is to convince Nic and MK to stay. He must get them to believe the appeal will allow this year's team to play in the post season.

Not sure on schollie count, but Northwestern, Oregon State, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, and Washington are all schools that come to mind on the quarter system.

is it legal for other schools to be calling our student athletes right now? Don't our students have to call them?

It's only illegal if SMU does it.

If we lose him and MK don't recruit over their empty spots next year. Redshirt freshman and front load the scholarship sanctions to this year and next considering we have that flexibility

Not illegal when you can transfer after being put on probation. Like people were calling Penn State players when they got put on probation.

Rules....rules?!? We are talking about the NCAA! They will grant and exception to anyone desiring to depart the pattern.

LOL, yeah. Larry Brown (and SMU coaches in general) never bolt and leave everyone hanging. Never.
