Although I am sad that we didn't appeal the post season ban and I feel especially horrible for Nic, Markus, and really the whole team, it is nice to finally have some closure on this situation. I imagine the NCAA will overturn some of our punishment. Recruiting should pick back up and SMU basketball won't have anything hanging over its head. In the long term, we will be okay.

Really? So if we had made a deep run the in NCAA tournament or better yet won the national championship having tied up the appeal hearings with the NCAA until after the NCAA tournament and taken the ban next year that not be better? So now we are taking the ban this year and next year the team wil not be as good as the team this year so they may have a hard time making the NCAA tournament and making a run. As far as recruiting is concerned what recruit will want to go to a school that is one more violation within the 5 year window of getting the DP? LB's name is tarnished and at he best we are looking at mid level recruits right now. If your goal is to win the national championship then we are not in okay shape if your goal is just to be somewhat competitive in the AAC then we can hit that goal.

I just think we need to have a full roster of great players. Given our scholarship reductions, it will take about 5 years for that to be possible again.

Rebel, I am just trying to stay positive. I think we could have easily made a run at the final four this year and yeah, in that case it would be better to defer the post season ban to 2016-2017.

We have to have about 9 good players and the first 4 or 5 need to be really good.

How will SMU be okay in the long-run? The school's athletic program has never been okay in the first place.

The NCAA is a ludicrous organization. But the biggest threat to betting the program and being successful is the athletic department itself. Clowns.
