Maryland assistant

Someone wrote here recently that the Maryland assistants might make good head coaches. (Someone even speculated at SMU.)
Anyway, I saw this in today's Baltimore Sun:
Maryland assistant coach Dave Dickerson has been mentioned as a candidate for the job at Clemson, where Larry Shyatt resigned on Monday.
Dickerson has also been mentioned as the possible successor at Virginia Tech. Dickerson did not return phone calls yesterday, but said in a written statement, "It has been my goal to be a head coach, and I am flattered to be mentioned when people discuss different openings. But right now my focus is on this team, this program, and helping Maryland defend our national championship."
